IN THE NAME OF LATE MRS DEULATHI THEBE (MENYANGBO)
A Charity Football was organised by Kirat Yakthung Chumlung UK on Sunday 20 September 2009 at the Victoria Park playing field, Ashford Kent in the name of late Mr Nandaman and Mrs Deulathi Thebe (Menyangbo). The aim of the charity football was to raise money to provide financial support for the children of Mr and Mrs Thebe (Menyangbo).
Under the leadership of Mr Dammar Limbu (Public Relation Coordinator) and Mr Dipak Tumbapo (Area Representative Member for Grays), the event was organised in a very short notice due to various commitments. It is however, a total of nineteen teams were participated in four different categories; Veteran (8), Non-Veteran (5), Under 16 (3) and Under 14 (3). Although most of the teams were made from Kent area, Grays and Colchester managed to turn up with one team in each categories and one team for Veteran category by Mr Dilsing Menyangbo representing Menyangbo pariwarteam.
At the start of the tournament, one minute silent was observed in the name of late Mr and Mrs Thebe. Although slightly late for kick off, the day run very smoothly where all equally enjoyed with the foods prepared by volunteer ladies. The Victoria field was almost covered by the spectators and players alike, which offered a meet and greet occasion to all involved. Towards the end, the Kent Boys easily declared the winner from Non-Veteran category in league basis. In the veteran category, Folkestone (A) and Folkestone (B) reached to play the final whilst Colchester and Sagarmatha Taekwondo Dojang for the third and fourth positions. The final match was so much competitive but Folkestone (B) secured the first position while Colchester for the third position.
Soon after the final match, Mr Bombahadur Limbu, president KYCUK, reiterate the aim of the day and thanked to all players, spectators and organisers for their participation and hard work. This was then followed by prize giving which was presented by the daughters of late Nandaman and Deulathi Thebe (Menyangbo) under the direction of Mr Dammar and Mr Dipak.
A worthy day not only enjoyed the football match but also had an opportunity to exchange their sincere thanks and appreciations, which came to the end around 1700 hrs. All welcomed such activity and promised to help each other if such situation arises in the future. The organiser managed to collect £1191.04.
